Bio of Khenpo Tamgrin
1.Became a monk at very young age


August 15th is the most perfect and auspicious day in both Han and Tibetan traditions.  


On the evening of that very day 42 years ago, under the full moonlight along with many other auspicious signs, an extraordinary life was born – the life of our peerless teacher Khenpo Tamgrin.
Khenpo Tamgrin was born on August 15th 1973, in a wealthy Buddhist family in Maierma town, Abha county, Sichuan Province, China.


Khenpo’s mother is a disciple of the Dharma King Yidazhin chosbe who is one of the 13 rainbow body accomplishing disciples of the first Dharma King Dudjom. She is a well learned Buddhist and a highly respected practitioner of the Great Perfection.  She has recited the Mantra of the Padmasambhava all her life. When Khempo was young, he always slept and woke up in her chanting of Padma mantra. She never stops chanting except deep in sleep. She has chanted it for hundreds of millions of times. Each day, she would take out one hour doing nothing but chant mantra without speaking and give 108 prostrations without intervals for decades.


She has become a nun for many years as well.


Khenpo’s father is also a man of great compassion and merits. He has an unerring instinct for good business with generous and obliging character. He dedicated almost all his business income to the monasteries and the monks. He regards monasteries as his own home. He is the biggest donor of the monasteries in the area, especially Namtsok Serder Monastery. This greatly improved the development of the Monasteries and the monks’ study. Khenpo’s father is highly respected by both local folks and monks. He was once the director of Namtsok Serder village.


And now he is now the manager of the Lay Buddhists Association at Larung Five Science Buddhist Academy.  


The diligent and kind parents impacted the little Khenpo who gradually grew up in this loving environment.


As little, Khenpo distinguished himself from all other kids. He was very kind and talented. He could chant and recite many mantras naturally. He liked Dharma instruments of the Three Jewels and everything related to the Dharma. Even with playmates, he showed no interest in worldly games but in practicing Dharma events and assemblies. His outstanding attractiveness, charisma and impact made him a leader among the kids. His born kindness and good habits aspired him to  become a monk when he was several years old. However, his parents and relatives didn’t agree since he was the only boy in the family and was too little to leave home. His dream was not satisfied.


Khenpo’s behaviors was known by many Lamas and masters around. It especially caused the attention of the Lama Konranurs Rinpoche and Lama Mudge Khetshangs. They went to Khenpo’s home many times trying to convince his parents to allow him become a monk. Lama Konranurs Rinpoche is Khenpo’s uncle who is one of the four well known Lamas in the area. He is now the Lama at the Wa Monastery of Hongyuan county. The fourth generation of Lama Mudge Khetshangs was a highly respected and powerful Lama who was the chief of Namtsok Serder monastery at the time. He entered nirvana in 1980s. When Khenpo was seven years old, they finally got his parents agree Khenpo to become a monk. Lama Genqiuraoji brought Khenpo to Namtsok Serder monastery and gave him the name Tamgrin, which means Hayagriva, one of thousands of Avalokitesvara’s nirmanakayas who shows angry face to help purify the obscurations of Dharma practitioners with his great compassion and Bodhicitta behind, for the benefit of . Ever since then, Khenpo started his life of Buddha Dharma study and practice.


When Khenpo first arrived Namtsok Serder Monastery, he systematically studied the fundamental preliminaries and precepts. Due to his sharp faculty and good habits over past lives, Khenpo easily grasped the Tibetan language skills and was even more proficient in studying Sutra and Tantrayana which is very complicated, especially when learning to build Mandela. It would usually take a long time to obtain. But he captured them profoundly with his careful and prudent diligence. Moreover, he understood thoroughly all the Mahayana Dharma principles taught by his teachers which manifested his nature of Bodhi wisdom. At twelve years old, Khenpo began to teach the Sutras and Tantras such as “The Words of My Perfect Teacher” and “ The Guide to the Bodhisattvas Way of Life” to the monks in the Monastery. Such sharp faculty is rarely seen in  Tibetan region.


At the age of 15-16, Khenpo started to host the various assemblies in the Monastery. Day by day, he began to take some responsibilities of the internal affairs in the Monastery. Although Khenpo was very young at that time, he was intelligent and good at learning, hardworking with great  understanding and management capability. The old Lamas, accomplished masters and his teachers regarded him as the best of all monks, the top in the monastery, the rare to find exceptional talent and the great pride of the Monastery. They were all very happy with his studies and practices, and gave him a lot of praises and rewards with high hopes invested in him.  



达真堪布仁波切略传


少年出家

        无论是在藏地还是在汉地,八月十五这一天都是一年当中最圆满、最吉祥的日子。四十二年前的那个八月十五月圆夜,伴随着圆满的月光与诸多不可思议的瑞相,一个非凡的生命来到人间,他就是我们的无上恩师——上师达真堪布。

      上师达真堪布,于一九七三年农历八月十五,出生在四川省阿坝县麦尔玛乡一个富裕的佛教世家。上师的母亲是第一世敦珠法王十三位虹化身弟子之一秋为法王的弟子,是当地非常有修持的、极受人尊敬的一位大圆满法修行者。她终生受持莲师心咒。无数个夜晚,幼年的堪布都是在慈母的念咒声中熟睡,清晨又在她的念咒声中醒来。除了真正的睡眠外,母亲念诵莲师心咒从没有间断过,至今已经念诵了几亿的莲师心咒。她每天止语诵咒一个小时,每天至少磕一百零八个大头,几十年从未间断。


上师的母亲已在喇荣出家多年。


       上师的父亲也是位非常有善根、有福报的人。他擅长经商,且乐善好施,将赚来的钱几乎全部用来供奉寺院,供养僧人。他把寺院当成自己的家,是附近几座寺院尤其是朗措玛寺最大的施主,对这些寺院及僧人帮助非常大,备受当地僧俗尊重。他曾是麦尔玛乡朗措玛村的村长。上师的父亲现在喇荣居士林当管家。精进、善良的父母亲所做的一切,都在潜移默化地影响着幼小的堪布,堪布就是在这样的环境中慢慢地长大。达真堪布从小就有着很多与众不同的地方。他善根深厚、天赋聪慧,自然会唱念很多经咒,喜欢三宝法器,喜欢任何与佛法有关联的事情,连与同伴玩耍都不喜欢世间的游戏,而喜欢做佛事、法事。聪慧善良的他有着非凡的感染力、号召力、影响力,在伙伴中堪称领袖。由于与生俱来的善根与习气,堪布几岁时就有着强烈的出家愿望。但因为他是家里唯一的男孩,而且尚在幼年,父母及亲属难以割舍,所以当时未能如愿。


       堪布的一切被周围的好多活佛、大德们所知晓,尤其是引起了根秋绕吉活佛和毛尔盖仓活佛的关注。他们多次来到堪布家,劝堪布的父母允许堪布出家。根秋绕吉活佛是堪布的叔叔,是当地四大著名活佛之一,现在是红源县美洼大寺院的活佛。第四世毛尔盖仓活佛在当地非常有威望,当时是朗措玛寺的主持,后于八十年代末圆寂。在堪布七岁时,他们说服了堪布的父母,根秋绕吉活佛将堪布带到了朗措玛寺,第四世毛尔盖仓活佛赐予堪布法名:达真(译为马头明王)。从此堪布开始了修习佛法的生活。


       初到朗措玛寺,堪布系统、规范地修习了基础的加行与戒律。因宿世的根基与习气,堪布在寺院学习藏文等特别顺利,尤其是学习经文和密法仪轨更是轻车熟路。这些方面的知识非常复杂,特别是学习设坛城,不是短时间就能掌握的。但是他谦恭谨慎、孜孜以求,不仅对这些课程悉数掌握,而且对上师所教的一切及大乘佛法之理均能通达无碍,尽显菩提智慧本性。堪布十二岁时便在寺院里为僧众宣讲《大圆满前行引导文》《入菩萨行》等经论续部。这样的根基,在藏地也极为少见。


      堪布从十五、六岁时开始主持寺院的各种法会,逐渐承担寺内的一些事务。尽管当时堪布年龄非常小,但是由于他聪明好学、勤奋刻苦,有极强的领悟能力及办事能力,被寺院中的老喇嘛、大成就者和堪布的上师们,看成是所有僧人当中的佼佼者,是寺院中首屈一指、不可多得的人才,是寺院的骄傲与自豪!他们对堪布在学习及修行等方面的表现都特别满意,并给予过他很多赞叹与奖励,同时对他寄予了厚望。





上师说:上师的出现取决于宿世的因缘与深厚的法缘,虔敬的心就像戒子的环,加持力就是一个钩。如果没有环,是无法钩住任何东西的;同理,没有虔敬心是很难获得加持力的,但一旦获得加持力,佛性便会自然迅速觉醒。

2.Rely upon the Dharma King



Although Khenpo had heard of the great reputation of the Dharma king Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche and Larung Buddhist Institute before he was 18 years old, but he didn’t has any feeling for this at that time. At the age of eighteen, Namtsok Serder monastery sent him to Dunga Dkar Monastery for study. Because this opportunity is rare, Khenpo decided to go to Larung and to visit the Dharma King. When he arrived at Larung, he had completely different feeling, it was pure and joyful. It seemed to come to the pure land, and like a wanderer was back home. All this feelings are more than words can express.


The Dharma King is merciful and amiable, who especially hoped him to stay in Larung for studying the Buddhism. An unparalleled joy came from Khenpo’s  heart at that moment. Although he already had several teachers, while he felt the Dharma King, with an incomparable mercy, is his destined root-teacher whom he had searching for many years. Fallen leaves return to the roots, he truly wanted stay in Larung forever. However, he had too much work so that he cannot stay in Larung. At that time, Khenpo had arousing the vow that he wished to come back Larung in three years, to back to the Dharma King Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche and to follow him.


He was missing Larung, missing the Dharma King when Khenpo went back to his original monastery. Due to many reasons, the master of Namtsok Serder Monastery didn’t agreed his request, so Khenpo had prayed for the aid of three jewels’ help to make his dream comes true.


The power of his vow is incredible. The master of Namtsok Serder Monastery agreed with his request in the second year.  Every causes and conditions matured, he came backed to Larung without a hitch and depended on Jigme Phuntsok, the Dharma King.


The Dharma King was very glad to see him back to Larung and told him it was the result of the maturity of causes and conditions in all his lives. Khenpo had a dream in the day when he relied on The Dharma King. The Dharma King spoke to him a lot and he wanted a blessed article by his holiness in his dream. Before he speaks out, “It is for you”, said the Dharma King, who picked up a bowl glazed with eight auspicious signs and filled with milk tea. He took over reverently. The Dharma King let him to drink up, but he dare not to use the bowl of his holiness so that he wanted to swap with other bowl but can’t find one. When he at a loss, “drink it, drink it up!” said the Dharma King, then he tossed off milk tea.


This dream gave Khenpo an unmatched confidence. Because it means that he will get the completely abhiseca from the Dharma King and the all merits and virtues of the Dharma King will pour into his continuity. From that moment, Khenpo got start his tough and joyful practice before the throne of JigmePhuntsok the Dharma King in Larung.


The circumstance of Larung was extremely harsh and difficult in those days, even doesn’t has the basic living conditions. Everyone just had a simple travelling bag, staying in thatched cottage and eating highland barley tsampa. Because they were busy in daily study and discussion in this tough circumstance, they didn’t have enough food nor drinking water. Just one session in winter the whole body seemed to be frozen. If over a long time, their hands and feet are chapped and bleeding. In the spring and autumn, thick sand scattered around the room after a storm. In the rainy season, heavy rain outside, causes a light rain inside the thatched cottage. In those days, the roads in Larung were extremely bad. landslides cause many roads blocked. Many times Khenpo went out for work, in order not to miss dharma assembly and lesson he had to tramp over hills and dales when he went back to Larung, sometimes he was trapped in the mountains. Once he was in a hurry and had to get a ride with someone else’s tractor, which rollover unexpectedly, thanks to the blessing of three jewels and the protecting of DharmaPala, he was intact.


More than ten years of practice and study in Larung, Khenpo had encountered unimaginable and inexpressible difficulties. However, he not only stayed with The Dharma King and took his lessons everyday but also had discussion with classmates and shared their experiences. Khenpo were filled with joy and satisfaction.


The Dharma King’s causes and conditions that bring about dharma are especially excellent. He often travels around the world to convert and save destined beings. Every time before a long journey, The Dharma King told Khenpo if he encounter any problems in daily life he may ask help from Lama Longartogs, for the difficulties in study he can consult Khenpo Achimed Rigajina. Lama Longartogs and Khenpo Achimed Rigajina who was called the most diligent one are the Dharma King’s most favorite students. This means that The Dharma King show his great kindness to Khenpo. Khenpo haven’t asked help from Lama Longartogs because he thought there were not any difficulties in his daily life. But he had seeked advice fromKhenpo Achimed Rigajina countlessly. Khenpo Achimed Rigajina was impressive and appreciated about the polite and diligence of Khenpo and granted whatever requested in Khenpo’s study. “Khenpo Achimed Rigajina is one of my most grateful and respected person.” Then Khenpo said.


2. 依 止  法  王



  堪布虽然在十八岁之前就听闻过晋美彭措法王及喇荣的盛名,然而当时却没有什么特殊的感觉。十八岁那年,寺院派他到东嘎寺学习,由于机会难得,堪布决定前去喇荣并拜见晋美彭措法王。到了喇荣以后,他的感觉却与以往完全不同,那么清净,愉悦,仿佛来到了净土,又如游子归家一般。这一切是无法用语言表达的。


  慈悲、亲切的法王特别希望他能留在喇荣学习,堪布的心中顿时产生了无比美妙的法喜。尽管自己有过几位上师,但是晋美彭措法王的无比慈悲,让他感觉到这就是自己寻找多年的、自己生生世世的根本上师。落叶归根,他真的想就这样永远的留下来,但是因为事务缠身必须离开,于是堪布便发愿:三年之内一定要回到喇荣,回到晋美彭措法王身边,依止法王,追随法王。


  堪布回到寺院,心里却思念着喇荣,思念着法王。但是朗措玛寺的上师们出于多方面的考虑,当时没有同意,于是堪布祈求上师三宝加持,实现自己回到喇荣的愿望。


  愿力不可思议,第二年寺院的上师们便同意了。加之种种机缘的成熟,堪布顺利地回到了喇荣,依止了晋美彭措法王如意宝。


  见到堪布回到喇荣,法王特别高兴,说这是生生世世的缘分得以成熟的结果。依止法王的当天晚上,堪布便做了一个梦,梦见法王跟自己讲了很多。梦中堪布非常想得到法王的一件加持品,但还没等开口,法王便端起桌子上绘有八吉祥图案并盛满了奶茶的碗说:“这个给你!”他急忙双手接过。法王让他将奶茶喝了,但他不敢用法王的碗,想倒出来喝却又找不到其它的碗,正在不知所措之时,法王又说:“快喝了吧,都喝了!”于是他一饮而尽。
  
  正是这个梦,让达真堪布具足了无比的信心,因为这预示着他将得到法王的一切圆满灌顶,也预示着法王圆满的功德都会灌注于堪布的相续中……从那一刻起他便在喇荣、在晋美彭措法王如意宝座前,开始了艰苦而又无比喜悦的闻思修行。


  当初喇荣环境特别艰苦,山上连基本的生活条件都不具备,每个人只有一个简单的行囊,住的是土草房,吃的是青稞糌粑。因为每天忙于学习、讨论,加上条件不好,很多时候不仅吃不上饭,甚至连白开水都喝不上。冬天一堂课下来,全身似乎都要冻僵了,时间久了手脚裂口,流着脓血;到了雨季,外面下大雨,屋里下小雨;春秋风沙一起,屋内到处是厚厚的黄沙……那时喇荣的路特别难走,每逢夏秋雨季,山体滑坡,好多路都会被堵死。很多次堪布有事回寺院,再从寺院赶回学院的时候,为了不耽误做法会或者是不影响上课,有时候要翻山越岭,跋山涉水绕行,甚至有几次困在山里。有一次为了赶时间搭坐别人的拖拉机,不想路上却翻了,幸好有上师三宝的加持,护法的护持,才没有受伤。


  在喇荣学习、修行的十几年,堪布所面对的困苦是常人难以想象的,也是无法言喻的。但是因为每天都能跟法王在一起,听法王讲经说法,每天跟同学们研讨,交流学习佛法的体会,堪布的心中充满了快乐和满足。虽餐风饮露,却道业日隆。


  法王的法缘特别殊胜,他经常到世界各地去度化有缘众生。法王每次远行前都要嘱咐,在自己离开期间,如果堪布生活中有需要,可以找学院最有威望的隆多大活佛。如果学习上有需要,可以找学院最著名的其麦仁真堪布。隆多活佛和被称为“精进第一”的其麦仁真堪布,是晋美彭措法王最得意的两大弟子,此举足以说明晋美彭措法王对达真堪布的厚爱。但是堪布从来没有找过隆多活佛,因为他觉得自己在生活上没有什么需要帮助的地方,但是他却无数次向其麦仁真堪布求教。其麦仁真堪布对达真堪布的谦恭有礼、勤奋好学格外赏识,对达真堪布的求教有求必应。后来达真堪布说:“其麦仁真堪布是对我最有帮助、是我最敬重的人之一。”

3.Obtain the degree of Khenpo



In about ten years’ time, Khenpo Tamgrin Rinpoche studied the five treatises of exoteric and tantric systematically and received the complete lineage and supreme empowerment. Though he was young among the disciples of Dharma King Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche, the master showed unshakeable faith to Dharma King and the three Jewels and perseverance in study. His great reputation was built rapidly at Larung Gar Serthat Buddhist Institute by passing all kinds of strict examinations.
  
Larung Gar Serthar Budddhist Institute is the biggest one not only in China, but also around the world. CatuParisa including many Tibetan and Han people who practice here for long or short term and the number of the practitioners can even reach tens of thousands.


‘Khenpo’, which is an important degree in Nyingma traditional Institute of tantric Buddhism, it means ‘master ’in Chinese, It is totally different to obtain this degree in other temples compare to get it in Larung Institute. It is also extremely difficult to pass the Khenpo examination in Larung, the biggest Buddhist Institute in the world which is a galaxy of talents.


If a practitioner wants to obtain the Khenpo degree, he should have studied here for a long term and behaved outstandingly in many aspects, also has passed times of strict tests, then he is qualified to register for the examination.


There are many examinations in Larung every year. The biggest one is held at the end of the year. The one who are qualified for the exams are chosen from every course due to there are so many courses in the Institute, and the winners will be awarded by JigmePhuntsok Rinpoche himself.


People who will attend the exams should publish his paper which will be selected carefully and be approved by the members from Institute Management Association. Then candidates will be questioned by other Khenpos around while sit on a lower Dharma chair facing a microphone. The scene is spectacular that huge crowds of monks from the Institute are gathered around the oral examination site.
  
All kinds of exams including preaching, discussion, debating and oral test are carried out in the same way as described above.


After so many times of exams through years, he showed the outstanding performance, excellent scores, practical cultivation and genuine enlightenment, Master Tamgrin obtained the highest degree of Khenpo eventually, and received the certificate conferred by JigmePhuntsok Rinpoche in person.
On the ceremony of conferring the degrees, JigmePhuntsok Rinpoche hoped that the disciples could continue their study and practice in Larung due to their careers of preaching would be more extensive and benefit more sentient beings than his own, especially the countless Han people would be relieved by them. So everyone shouldered heavy responsibilities and embark on a long journey.


From the very beginning of the founding of the Institute until now, there were more than two hundred thousand people have studied there, but only over two hundred people obtained the Khenpo degree which is equal to the position of doctoral supervisor if from a view of common knowledge standard.
 
Khenpo Tamgrin Rinpoche was 26 at that year.


Khenpo was arranged by the King of Dharma Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche to in charge of teaching Hetuvidya (Indian classical Logic) especially in the Institute for about two years.


The King of Dharma never recognized any living Buddha, but only treasured the Khenpos cultivated by himself strenuously, because they are practical cultivators and real achievers, they are pillars of Buddhism and carrying the career of Dharma preaching in the future.  


For many times, The King of Dharma gave Knacks of Dzogchen ( The Great Perfection) to tens of thousands disciples openly, but seldom he gave these teaching to someone alone. It took him four days to give teaching of the most special Dharma methods he has practiced during the life to only about one hundred Khenpos whom were deeply expected at that time.


During the period of teaching in Larung, Khenpo Tamgrin was strongly requested by the Sangha from Namtsok Serder Monastery to return and hold the post of Temple’s abbot. He was not approved to leave the Institute, then after many times of consultation and obtained the consent of the King of Dharma, Khenpo returned to Namtsok Serder at last where he enthroned and took the responsibility of the abbot, and chaired the Management Association at the same time.




3.考   取   堪   布



  在近十年的时间里,达真堪布仁波切依止法王系统修习了五部大论等显密经典,并接受了大圆满法的完整传承和殊胜灌顶。虽然在法王的诸多弟子中年龄较小,但他凭着对上师三宝无比具足的信心和顽强的毅力,不断通过各种严格的考试,很快享誉喇荣五明佛学院。


五明佛学院不仅是全国,而且是全世界最大的佛学院。有很多藏、汉等族的四众弟子,在此进行长期或短期的学习、修行,人数最多的时候能达到几万人。


   “堪布”翻译成汉语是“法师”的意思,是藏传佛教宁玛派学院中一个重要的学位,在一般的寺院考取堪布和在五明佛学院考取堪布是截然不同的。在人数众多,人才济济的全世界最大的佛学院考取堪布是非常难的。


  想考取这个学位,首先必须是长期在此学习的,在好多方面有突出成绩的学员才有资格报名,然后需要通过多次各种严格考试。


  喇荣五明佛学院每年都有很多考试,其中年底考试是一年当中最大型的考试。因为学院分很多科,能参加考试的人都是从各科里选拔出来的。考试成绩优异者可以得到法王的奖励。


  而参加堪布考试的人,应试前要把自己的观点写出来发表,经由学院管委会精心挑选同意以后,应试者坐在低矮的法座上,面前放着麦克风,接受周围所有堪布的提问。考场四周人山人海地围坐着学院所有的僧人,场面异常壮观。


  讲经考试、讨论考试、辩经考试、论文答辩等各种考试,都是用这种方式进行的。


  就这样,经过几年很多次这样的考试,上师以突出的表现、优异的成绩,以自己的真修实证,得到了晋美彭措法王亲自赐予的五明佛学院最高的堪布学位证书。


  在学位授予仪式上,法王希望这些弟子都能够留在喇荣继续学习、修行,因为他们未来的弘法事业比自己还要广大,比自己利益的众生还要众多,特别是能够利益无边的汉地众生。每个人任重道远!


  从五明佛学院建院至今,到喇荣学习过的有二十几万人,但获得堪布证书的只有二百多人。用世间的学问标准来说,堪布相当于博士生导师。


  那一年,达真堪布仁波切二十六岁。


  上师考上堪布以后,被法王安排在学院专门负责因明科的讲学,讲了两年左右。


  法王从来不认定活佛,但是对自己苦心培养起来的堪布们却视如珍宝,因为他们有修有证,是佛门的栋梁之才,也承载着未来的弘法事业。


  法王有数以万计的弟子,法王曾多次公开给他们宣讲无上大圆满的很多窍诀,但是单独宣讲的时候却特别少。可是法王却将自己一生当中所修的最特殊的法,用了四天的时间,单独传给了当时仅有的一百多位堪布们。法王对他们寄予了无限的期望。


  堪布讲学期间,朗措玛寺僧众多次强烈请求他回寺院任主持,但是,当时五明佛学院不同意他离开。经过多次协商,最后经法王同意,堪布才回到朗措玛寺坐床任主持,并担任管委会主任。



上师说:上师的出现取决于宿世的因缘与深厚的法缘,虔敬的心就像戒子的环,加持力就是一个钩。如果没有环,是无法钩住任何东西的;同理,没有虔敬心是很难获得加持力的,但一旦获得加持力,佛性便会自然迅速觉醒。

In August 2002, Khenpo Tamgrin made a pilgrimage to Mount Putuo. This is the first time he visits Han region. In 2003, for raising money for rebuilding monastery, he visited Han region for the second time. At that time, he can only say one Chinese word “OK”.


During the course of deeply getting in touch with lay Buddhists of Han region, Khenpo was moved and shocked by all the things he heard about.  


At that time, many everymen pretended to be monks, even living Buddhas and Khenpos, when they came to Han region. As long as being told that the everymen themselves were living Buddhas, gurus or Khenpos, the devout lay Buddhists of Han region made obeisance and offering to the pretending everymen sincerely, and deemed them as real Buddha. These pious lay Buddhists were so eager to be of salvation, but were so blind and utterly ignorant. These pious lay Buddhists did not know what Empowerment and lineage are, did not distinguish between true and false, and replied upon guru without observation in advance. These pious lay Buddhists wanted to practice and be of salvation but did not know how to study and practice. Most of them run everywhere, did not have complete and systematic lineage and practice means, and could only study and practice Buddha through some books and light disks which are for forming ties. During this course, countless sentient beings wasted their time and treasure-like living bodies of human beings, as well as even used Buddha to create karma.


All kinds of these phenomena made Khenpo be extremely worried and burning with anxiety. He knew very well that lost time is never found again and a lost living body of human being is hard to be got back. He also knew well that what time and a living body of human being means to a person who is eager to be of salvation.


At that time, there were many real Khenpo, living Buddha and eminent monks who also came to Han region.  Their motivation was to promote Buddhism. But the Buddhist ceremonies, Dharma events and empowerment for pious lay Buddhists they did were no more than forming ties with sentient beings. These practices do not have real benefit for this life’s salvation of sentient beings of Han region. This is because these Khenpo, living Buddha and eminent monks had not broken through language obstacle.


Khenpo Tamgrin decided to return to Han region to study Chinese. His thought was opposed by all people around him, including monks of the monastery and schoolmates of the Institute. They thought that Khenpo Tamgrin was a well-known living Buddha and Khenpo of Tibet region and Larung Buddhist Institute, as well as that the Institute, the monastery and Tibet region are where his causes and conditions for bringing about Dharma are in, where he benefits sentient beings and he is needed. They also thought Chinese is too difficult to study and it is impossible to reach the degree of preaching in Chinese in a short term.


However, Khenpo thought that: there are countless mahasiddhas and pure bodhimandas in Tibet region, all conditions have already been satisfied if Tibetan would like to study and practice Dharma and his own going or staying is of little important to Tibetan; oppositely, although the pious lay Buddhists of Han region were so eager for Dharma and salvation as well as have culture basis, what they lacked on practice were actually too many, so the pious lay Buddhists of Han region needed help and himself more; and, although studying Chinese is hard, as long as he himself’s motivation is pure, guru and Three Jewels will certainly aid him.


With such vow power, Khenpo went to ask for opinion of his own root guru, The King of Dharma Jigme Phuntsok. The King of Dharma’s attitude was totally in according with Khempo’s expectation, and he knew well about the practice situation of sentient beings of Han region of that time and is also anxious to benefit them. The King of Dharma did not only agree with Khenpo’s decision but also quietly support it. He said, “All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are merciful and left a lot of termas, most practice methods of which are quite beneficial to sentient beings of Han region. If sentient beings of Han region can practice according to and cleave to these means, I will be quite happy. This is also my wish! It is quite meaningful and worthy to be happy that you do this! I hope you study Chinese well, continue my Dharma-lineage, promote Buddhism in Han region, as well as benefit and save more sentient beings of Han region. During the course you study Chinese and promote Buddhism, you will certainly meet unexpected undesirable conditions and obstacles. It will not matter. Since you have such vast resolve, guru and Three Jewels will certainly aid you, all dharmapalas will protect and maintain you, and I will not leave you in any instant.”


Before the King of Dharma, Khenpo Tamgrin swore that in order to let countless sentient beings of Han region practice authentic Dharma, whatever undesirable conditions and obstacles he will meet, he himself will not flinch or vacillate, will pray to the King of Dharma all the time, will not leave him in any instant, will certainly help more sentient beings of Han region be of salvation as well as will help the King of Dharma realize his wish of benefiting and save sentient beings of Han region.


Consequently, for promoting Buddhism and saving sentient beings of Han region, Khenpo, bearing the weight of the King of Dharma’s ardent entrusting and undertaking divine mission endowed by the King of Dharma, said goodbye to Larung Buddhist Institute, Namtsok Serder Monetary, the King of Dharma as well as his brotherly schoolmates and friends who were together day and night. He returned to Han region in 2003 and resolved to study Chinese hard.


The difficulty can be imaged that a person, who is near 30 years old and never touched Chinese, which is the hardest language in the world. Initially, the study was fairly hard, especially the study of pronunciation. He could not understand anything, was at a sea about what the teacher taught and did not know where to start with.  Even so, Khenpo still set such an object that He would not only be able to speak but also read and write in two years.


Pure compassion can create any miracle!


With guru’s and Three jewels’ aid as well as Khenpo’s unremitting efforts, he could understand Chinese after two months, speak about Dharma in Chinese after half a year, and speak Chinese quite fluently after one year.  Actually, Khenpo was quite busy. He returned to the monastery and Institute to work for six months per year. So he studied Chinese for only twelve months in those two years. In the twelve month time, Khenpo was from knowing nothing to being able to read and write as well as preach in comparatively fluent Chinese. This proves again that pure compassion’s power is unparalleled.


4.苦   学   汉   语


  二〇〇二年八月,达真堪布朝拜普陀山,这是他第一次到汉地;二〇〇三年,为了重建寺院筹集资金,这是他第二次到汉地。那个时候他只会说一个字:好。

  在堪布深入接触汉地居士们的过程中,他所了解的一切让他非常感动,同时也让他异常震惊!

当时,很多普通人冒充出家人,甚至冒充活佛、堪布来到汉地。而汉地虔诚的居士们,只要听说是活佛、上师、堪布就真心地礼拜,供养,把他们当成真正的佛。他们是那样急迫地渴求解脱,却又是那样盲目与茫然无知;他们不懂什么是灌顶和传承,不辩真伪、不加观察就依止上师。他们想修行、想解脱,但却不知道如何学、如何修,大多数人东跑西颠,没有完整系统的传承与修法,只能通过一些结缘书籍和光盘学佛、修行。在这个过程中,无数众生浪费了珍宝般的光阴与人身,甚至拿佛法来造业。

  种种现象让达真堪布忧心忡忡、心急如焚。他深知:光阴一去不复返,一失人身难再还!他深知:对于一个渴望解脱的人来说,拥有光阴、拥有人身意味着什么!

   当时藏地也有很多真正的堪布活佛、大德高僧来到汉地。他们的发心是弘扬佛法,但是他们所做的佛事、法事,给居士们的灌顶等只是与众生结个缘而已,这些做法对汉地众生今生的解脱并没有什么真正的利益,因为他们无法突破语言障碍。

   达真堪布决定重返汉地,学习汉语。他的想法遭到了寺院僧众及学院同学等周围所有人的反对。他们认为,达真堪布是藏地,是五明佛学院有名气的活佛、堪布,学院、寺院、藏地才是他的法缘所在,才是他利益众生的地方,那里需要他;而汉语特别难学,想在短时期内达到能用汉语弘扬佛法的程度是不可能的。 

  但是达真堪布认为,藏地有无数的大成就者和清净道场,藏人想要学佛修行,一切条件都已经具足了,自己的去留对藏人来说无足轻重。相反,汉地的居士们虽然那样希求佛法、渴望解脱,又有文化基础,但是他们在修行上缺乏的实在太多,他们更需要帮助,他们更需要自己。尽管汉语难学,只要自己发心清净,上师三宝一定会加持自己!

  带着这样的愿力,堪布去征求自己的根本上师晋美彭措法王的意见。法王的态度完全在堪布的意料之中。法王对汉地众生修行的现状非常了解,利益汉地众生的心情也非常迫切,法王不仅同意堪布的决定,而且还非常支持他。法王说:“诸佛菩萨慈悲,留下了很多伏藏品,其中大部分修法都是对汉地众生有极大利益的。如果汉地众生能修持这些法,我会非常高兴,这也是我的心愿!你这样做,是非常有意义,是非常值得欢喜的事情!希望你能好好学习汉语,将我的法脉延续下去,将佛法在汉地弘扬起来,利益、救度更多的汉地众生!在你学习汉语,弘法的过程中,一定会有意想不到的违缘与障碍,但是没有关系,你有这样广大的发心,上师三宝一定会加持你,所有的护法都会护持你,我刹那间都不会离开你!”

  在法王如意宝面前,达真堪布发下誓愿:为了能让无数汉地众生修持佛法,无论面对何种违缘与障碍,自己都不会退缩、不会动摇,并会时时刻刻祈祷法王,刹那间都不离开法王,一定帮助更多的汉地众生解脱,帮助法王实现利益汉地众生、救度汉地众生的心愿!

  就这样为了弘扬佛法,为了度化汉地有缘众生,达真堪布承载着法王的殷切嘱托,肩负着法王所赋予自己的神圣使命,告别了五明佛学院和朗措玛寺,告别了法王,告别了朝夕相处、亲如手足的同学、朋友们,于二〇〇三年重返汉地,发心苦学汉语。

  对于一个年近三十,从来没有接触过汉语的人来说,学习这门世界上最难的语言,其难度可想而知。最初的学习是相当艰难的,尤其是学习发音。他什么也听不懂,对老师所教一片茫然,不知道从何入手。尽管如此,堪布还是定下了这样的目标:两年之内不仅要会说,还要会读,会写。
清净的慈悲心会创造任何奇迹!

  在上师三宝的加持下,在堪布自己不懈的努力下,两个月之后他就能听懂汉话,半年之后就可以用汉语讲法,一年以后,汉语讲得就非常流利了。其实堪布非常忙,一年十二个月中,每年他都要回寺院、学院忙半年左右,所以他每年学习汉语的时间只有六个月,两年只学了十二个月。这十二个月的时间里,达真堪布从对汉语一无所知,到会读、会写,并用比较流利的汉话弘扬佛法,再次证明了清净慈悲心的力量无与伦比。

上师说:上师的出现取决于宿世的因缘与深厚的法缘,虔敬的心就像戒子的环,加持力就是一个钩。如果没有环,是无法钩住任何东西的;同理,没有虔敬心是很难获得加持力的,但一旦获得加持力,佛性便会自然迅速觉醒。

5.Receiving Disciples



When Khenpo Tamgrin arrived at Han region alone in 2003, he could not understand what others said or express his own will. In addition, people did not know him and could not generate faith in him. Consequently, Khenpo’s study and life was quite hard, as well as he was sick once. However, regardless of facing sentient beings’ incomprehension, or other undesirable conditions and obstacles, Khenpo did never flinch or vacillate. Sentient beings’ habits are of various kinds. Some are blind and credulous, and some are obstinate and doubting. When mentioning these, many disciples still cannot help feeling ashamed and guilty that they themselves doubted about Khenpo at the beginning, as well as are moved by and wept for his firm faith and persevering spirit.


When Khenpo Tamgrin arrived at Han region at first, he could not speak Chinese and was young, and many people did not understand his meaning. Then these people deemed him as a normal monk to revere and sustain. However, Khenpo did not fuss about these. With whatever purpose people appealed to him for help, he granted whatever was requested and helped them with all his power. In addition, he inspired, guided, as well as converted and taught sentient beings continually by using his compassion, wisdom, skillful means, expedients and his unique way. He let sentient beings know and accept him.


After Khenpo arrived at Han region, he met a lay Buddhist who had cancer and could only live for at most two years, which was diagnosed by doctors. When the lay Buddhist met Khenpo, it had been more than one year passed from the time of diagnosis. The lay Buddhist had walked around all parts of the country with his family, tried everything, received surgery and met many living Buddhas, but his condition became worse and worse. When they were helpless, they found Khenpo Tamgrin. At that time, the patient had extremely bad complexion, were all-overish and had general edema. In order to save kinsfolk’s life, his younger sister and wife could not afford to kneel before Khenpo and prayed for saving their kinsfolk with their faces covered with tears.  Khenpo was compassionate. He recited for and blessed the patient. He also led the patient to retreat to recite Mantra of the


Padmasambhava for a month. When the retreat ended, the patient had better complexion and became fatter. Four or five years passed. The lay
Buddhist is still alive and quite healthy. This affair has let many people build confidence on Khenpo, take refuge with him and become his disciples.  


There is another disciple who not only had cancer but also many other incurable diseases. Khenpo Tamgrin recited mantra for and bless him, and let him recite “Taking Refuge” for one hundred thousand times. After the disciple finished, he went to hospital for inspection and nothing was found out, which made the doctor feel quite surprised. Through this, people around Khenpo began to believe in him and took refuge with him.


In the disciples Khenpo received at first there was a lay Buddhist who had studied and practiced Dharma for many years. At first, she first thought Khenpo was young and had nothing out of the ordinary and only deemed him as a normal monk. However, a thing happened later on, which let her admire Khenpo extremely. She had an illness of leg pain, which had made her suffer unspeakably for many years. She herself had attended many


Dharma events, including chanting sutras, offering vegetarian meals, Seven Day Practice, Segaki (A ritual called Fang yan Kou) and so on. Her condition changed for the better at first, but became worse later. When she got to know Khenpo, it was even quite hard for her to walk. She told Khenpo about this and Khenpo suggested her doing a fire puja. After Guru finished the fire puja, she completely recovered from the illness of leg pain which had tormented her for many years. This thing let her build confidence on Khenpo. It also made up her mind to follow him to study and practice to the end, and that she would not retreat whatever she would face.


In the region Khenpo preached Dharma at first, there is well-known story about Vajra Knot. Every time there are persons coming to see Khenpo, he sends everyone of them a Vajra Knot in order to form ties. There was a lay Buddhist whose family name is Liu. When he was young, he was quite emulous, deemed killing as pleasure and especially liked killing pigs. When he was 44 years old, his hindrance of karma arose, which was that he had cancer. At that time, he had touched Dharma, understood some Buddhist principle and had a mind of confession. Later, he took refuge to Khenpo through another’s introduction. Like to every disciple, Khenpo gave a Vajra Knot to him. He carried the Vajra Knot with him all the time. When he was on his deathbed, he could not swallow the last breath and persisted for a long time. People felt weird but did not know why. Later, someone reminded that there was a special thing on his body. By the reminding, people came up with this Vajra Knot. However, all people doubted whether it was this thing playing a part. Someone proposed taking down the Vajra Knot for a try. It was not expected that once people picked off the Vajra Knot from the lay Buddhist’s body, he breathed his last. All people were surprised.  


Another time, there was a person who was also dying. When he was on his deathbed, his family prepared funeral for him but had not got ready yet. He would breath his last soon. His family were quite sad and hoped having some way to let him persist for a more little while. Then someone thought up that Khenpo’s Vajra Knot is effective. Someone hastened to pick off his own Vajra Knot and put on it for the dying person. As expected, the dying person came around. When all things were ready and his family said it was OK, people picked off the Vajra Knot and he breathed his last.


Many other people met many magical things because of carrying Vajra Knot with them. All people said that it sufficiently show how inconceivable Khenpo’s blessing is that if a person carries his’s Vajra Knot with him on his body, when he is dying, little ghosts and King of Hell do no dare to come. Therefore, many people came to take refuge with Khenpo for obtaining a Khenpo’s Vajra Knot. However, because of this arisal of condition, more people had chances to get in touch with Khenpo, got in touch with Dharma then, as well as followed Khenpo to practice Dharma finally.


This is how Khenpo Tamgrin uses various ways to interpret Dharma to sentient beings and disciples. This is also how he uses his own way to receive and correct disciples, to have his compassion on sentient beings and to move them.


One of the largest wish of this life of Khenpo is to build a Buddhist Institute to train professionals of Dharma who can speak the three languages Tibetan, Chinese and English from their childhood. Such great wish needs not only Khenpo’s own arousal of Bodhichitta but also many people’s to come true.
One of Khenpo’s disciples aroused Bodhichitta very well. Guru continually enjoined him to do morning recitation and evening recitation as well as to participate in chopa. But he always made various excuses to shirk. On a day of chopa, Guru called him several times to ask him to participate, but he always said he had no time. However, in the afternoon of that day, he himself tumbled without sake when walking on a smooth road and bruised himself without rhyme or reason when closing car door. All of these scared him. In the morning of the next day, this CEO who has several enterprises went to meet Guru with salve mull pasted on his head. As soon as he got into the house, he worshiped Guru and said, “Master, I was wrong. I don’t dare any further.”
Later, Guru joked in a casual way that he only wanted to frighten some disobedient disciples and he had no other meaning. This thing let this disciple build a confidence on Guru and arouse the vow to help Guru build Buddhist Institute. From then on, he did whatever Guru asked him to do and did not dare to violate Guru’s will any further.  


 5. 摄  受  弟   子



      二〇〇三年达真堪布只身一人来到汉地的时候,即听不懂别人的说话,也无法表达自己的意愿,加上人们不了解他,无法对他产生信心,堪布的学习及生活都非常艰难,他曾经因此病倒过。但无论是面对众生的不理解,还是面对其他的违缘与障碍,堪布都从未退缩、从未动摇。众生的习气有多种,有的盲目轻信,有的则固执疑惑。很多弟子一提起这些,还忍不住为自己当初对堪布的怀疑感到惭愧内疚,为上师坚定的信念和锲而不舍的精神而感动流泪。


    达真堪布初到汉地,不会汉语,年纪又轻,许多人也不知道堪布是什么意思,只把他当成一般的出家人来恭敬、供养。但是堪布对此并不计较。对无论是以什么目的来求助他的人,都是有求必应,尽自己所有的力量帮助他们,不断地用他的慈悲与智慧,用他的善巧与方便,用他特有的方式,启迪、接引、度化着众生,让众生了解自己,接受自己。


  堪布到汉地不久,遇到一位身患癌症的居士,经医生诊断他最多只能活两年,当他见到堪布的时候,时间已经过去一年多了。他与家人走遍了全国各地,想尽了所有的办法,手术也做了,也见了很多活佛,可病情却越来越糟。束手无策之时,他们找到了达真堪布。当时病人的脸色极差,浑身无力,全身浮肿。为了能够留住亲人的性命,他的妹妹和妻子在堪布面前长跪不起,泪流满面地祈求堪布救救自己的亲人。堪布慈悲,为他念诵、为他加持,又带他闭关一个月,念诵莲师心咒。闭关结束了,病人的脸色也好了,也胖了。四、五年过去了,这位居士依然健在,并且身体非常棒。这件事让很多人对达真堪布生起了信心,皈依他做了他的弟子。 


  还有一个弟子,不仅患了癌症,还有其他好多病,医院已经无法医治了,达真堪布给他念咒,加持他,然后让他念十万遍皈依。念完以后,再去医院检查时,却什么都没有查出来,这让医生感到非常惊奇。通过这件事他周围的人也都开始相信达真堪布,最后都皈依了上师。


  在上师最初摄受的弟子中,有位修习佛法多年的居士。最初见到堪布这样年轻,并不觉得堪布有什么与众不同的地方,只是把他当成一个普通的出家人看待。但是随后发生的一件事情,让她对堪布佩服的五体投地。原来,她有一个腿疼病,多年来让她苦不堪言,自己也做了很多法事:诵经、供斋,打七、放焰口等。虽然起初病情也有所减轻,但是后来又加重了,结识堪布的时候,行走都非常困难。她跟堪布说了这件事,堪布说,做次火供吧。上师做完火供以后,折磨她多年的腿疼病彻底好了。这件事让她对上师生起了信心,并发心跟随上师修学到底,无论面对什么都不退转。


   在堪布最初弘法的地区,还流传着尽人皆知的金刚结的故事。每当有人来见上师时,上师都要送一个金刚结跟他们结缘。有一位刘居士,年轻时特别好胜,以杀生为乐事,尤其喜欢杀猪。四十四岁时业障现前,得了癌症。当时他也接触了佛法,懂得了一些佛理,也有了忏悔之心。后来经人介绍皈依了达真堪布。像对所有的弟子一样,堪布也给了他一个金刚结,他就一直戴在身上。在他临终的时候,却怎么也咽不下最后一口气,这样坚持了好久。人们都觉得奇怪,但是不知道是什么原因,后来有人提醒说:“是他身上有一个特殊的东西。”经过提醒,人们才想到这个金刚结。但是大家都怀疑,是这个东西起的作用么?有些人主张拿下来试试。没想到,人们一把金刚结从他身上摘下来,他就咽气了。所有的人都十分惊讶。
  
  还有一次,也是一位临终者,在临终的时候,家人为他准备后事,但是还没来得及准备好,他就要咽气了,家人特别难过,希望能用什么办法,让他再坚持一下。这时候有人想起来,上师的金刚结管用,有人赶紧把自己的金刚摘下来给他戴上,果然他就缓过来了,等所有的一切都准备好了,家属说可以了,于是人们摘掉了金刚结,他就咽气了。


  很多人,也因为带金刚结而发生过好多神奇的事情。人们都说,上师的金刚结戴在身上,人到寿命了,小鬼和阎王爷也不敢来,足见上师的加持力是那样不可思议。于是好多人为了求得堪布的一个金刚结而来皈依上师。但就是因为这个缘起,使更多的人有机会接触了上师,进而接触了佛法,最终跟随上师修持佛法。


  达真堪布就是这样利用各种方式不断地向众生与弟子诠示佛法,用自己的方式去摄受、调伏弟子,去慈悲、感动众生。


  堪布此生最大的愿望之一就是建一所佛学院,从小培养会藏、汉、英三种语言的佛法专业人才。如此的弘愿,不仅需要堪布自己的发心,同时也需要众人的发心。


  上师的一位弟子发心非常好,上师不断地嘱咐他,让他做早晚课,参加会供,但是他总是找各种理由推脱。在一个会供的日子,上师给他打了好几次电话,让他参加会供,他都说没时间。然而在这天下午,他走在平整的马路上却无缘无顾地自己摔跟头,关车门也会莫名其妙地撞伤自己,这一切把他吓坏了。第二天一大早,这位拥有好几家企业的老总,头上贴着药布去见上师,进屋就给上师顶礼,说:“师父,我错了,下次我再也不敢了。”


  后来上师在不经意之间开玩笑说,对有些不太听话的弟子,只是想吓唬吓唬而已,别无他意。但是这件事让这位弟子对上师生起了信心,并发愿帮助上师建佛学院,从今以后,无论上师说什么他都会照做,再也不敢违背上师的意愿了。

6.Pure and merciful vows



In 2005, Khenpo made a pilgrimage to Wutai Mountain with the disciples. A hundred thousand butter lamps were lit to pray to Manjusri for eliminating all disciples’stupidity and confusion, darkness and ignorance; clearing up karmas; improving wisdom. This is the first Dharma Assembly held for Han disciples leading by the Khenpo.


During the pilgrimage, Khenpo and his disciples were given many helps by monks of Wutai Mountain. One monk who once studied in Larung offered a dextrorotary conch to Khenpo on behalf of all monk attendees to wish that Dharma Wheel will be always turning and Khenpo’s preaching career will be extensive and achieve completeness. “ This is a good origin” said Khenpo, who received the conch gladly.


Just like Sakyamuni Buddha’s first turning of the wheel of Dharma, it indeed was a wonderful origin which predicted that the career of Khenpo’s Dharma preaching will be spread in dharmadhatu.


There are lots of miracles happened to Khenpo. When worshipping the shrine of Buddha mother cave, one disciple felt she was too big to get through the narrow entrance.


Khenpo constantly encouraged her, reciting beside her and gave her blessing, then she made up her mind and found her body shrank a lot, and went through the hole smoothly. A Vajra brother beside her found her body was obviously smaller enough that a gap can be seen between body and rock hole.


As long as people have contacted with Khenpo, or got close to him, they will be moved by his sincerity and equality mind of compassion, including those practitioners who have already relied on other masters. 


Whenever disciples came from far away to rely on him, became familiar with him or sought help from him, Khenpo is always concerned about them, enquires about them until these disciples arrive and sit around him. Khenpo cared about their board and lodging, and visited their dormitories in person.


He gently pinches the quilts and he asks about whether they feel cold or not. Many disciples said that Khenpo is the mom who protects the babies most in the world.


Khenpo said many times that he is a monk with no family, no kids, and he does not need any offering. The best and biggest offerings disciples can give to the master, three jewels and the parental sentient beings are practicing diligently to reach enlightenment and become a Buddha.


Many people made offerings to him with the intention of respect and gratitude. Though Khenpo received, he cherished every penny. In order to cultivate blessing and merits for sentient beings, he used the money to support the temple, sangha, and pasted the Buhhda statues with gold foils.


Lots of incredible things happened due to the calling of his pure compassion. Merciful Khenpo got the aid from Buddha and Bodhisattva time and again.
In the summer of 2006, Dazhen Khenpo led the Han disciples to Lasa. According to the Tibetan calendar, the arrival date was the day of commemoration of Sakyamuni became a Buddha. Also on that day, they had been to Sera Monastery, where the monks of Sera were holding a Dharma Assembly, chanting “Practices and Vows of the Bodhisatta Samantabhadra’s vows”
There is a statue of Sakyamuni Buddha in the center of the sutra hall in Sera Monastery, and after Khenpo prostrated before Buddha and he stood up, he heard clearly that“May I teach the Dharma in the language of gods, In every language of spirits and nagas, Of humans and of demons, And in the voice of every form of being”. (For the gods, nagas, yakasha, kumbhanda, humans and demons, I wish I can preach Dharma in their language respectively, and guide all beings learn and practice till they become Buddha) This is one of Khenpo’s many vows, which was an extremely supreme origin. According to the monks’ experiences in Sera, such kind of extraordinary origin is very rare.


In Samye Gompa -----where Padmasambhava had retreated and Drepung monastery, Khenpo use the offering from disciples to paste the Buhhda statues with gold foils, offer lamps, give alms to beggars, and made offerings to the genuine practitioners and great siddhas. Due to the Great Bodhhicitta arised of Khenpo, many auspicious signs such as colorful clouds covering the sky and mountain top were witnessed.


There were many auspicious signs appeared as well, when khenpo retreated in Samye Gompa.
At the end of the year 2005, before the book named “Rituals of Pure Land and Dzongchen”to be printed, one layman found Khenpo via other’s introduction.


Actually he has a son around 23 years old, who suffered a disease without any rhyme or reason five year ago. The symptoms were so strange that usually the patient was delirious and out of his mind, but sometimes he faced a wall silently, and could ran out madly when he was not in the sight of family.


Wearing underwear and stripped to the waist in severe winter; constantly ate one kind of food without stopping. He ate several chicken drumsticks everyday continuously for a whole month in a summer. The parents had been to everywhere to see doctors and tried all methods; spent all money they own, the result turned out with no any improvement, but the son getting worse day after day.


Five years later, in order to heal their son, the couple had endured so many hardships and had no money left. The father told Khenpo that he earned money by selling tofu to support the son alive, but all these efforts were useless and he did not know what to do next.


Khenpo sat alone for a long time with tears in his eyes. He expressed his vows sincerely before all Buddha and Bodhisattva, deities and dhammapala, and all sentient beings in dharmadhatu. All vows had been written down in the foreword of the book” Pure Land and the Dzogchen Practice Rituals”:
In order to relieve all sentient beings from suffering and gain happiness permanently, I would like to devote my body, speech and mind to them completely!
No matter what kind of adversities I encounter, the vow to benefit the sentient beings will never be changed!
No matter what kind of obstacles I encounter, the career to salvage the sentient beings will never be given up!
I would rather lose my life than abandoning a single being!
I wish that my wisdom and power can liberate all beings from suffering and afflictions.
I wish my medicine of Dharma can cure the illnesses of sentient beings’ body and mind.
I pray for blessing from my guru and Three Jewels that I will never allow the thought of selfishness and chasing self-interest arising from my mind even in an instant! I should serve all the beings devotedly.
It is greatest felicity and happiness in my life that everyone practices teaching diligently and gain benefits.


These compassions and great vows of Khenpo Tamgrin have been calling innumerable beings walking out of darkness and embracing the dawn.


One disciple of Khenpo, who had suffered all hardships and tortures, once had lost the hope to live.


After depended on Khenpo, she understood a lot of truths by listening to khenpo’s teachings. She knew that everything revealed the cause and result and all appearance of the suffering were brought by karma. The destiny could be changed only by changing herself.


From then on, she practiced diligently, following Khenpo’s teaching faithfully. Genuinely, she relieved herself from the sea of suffering of life and soul. With the complete faith, and the blessing from Khenpo, she went through the trials of illness and death and reach enlightenment in only half a year.


“If we do not have Khenpo, we even can not face and get through the joy and angry, sadness and happiness in daily life, even not to mention the awakeness and becoming a Buddha! So I can tell that it is Khenpo who gave me everything”, said she after her experienced all.




6.清  净  悲  愿



        二〇〇五年堪布带弟子们去朝拜五台山,供十万酥油灯,祈祷文殊菩萨谴除所有弟子们的愚痴颠倒、黑暗无明,消除业障、增长智慧。那是上师带领汉地弟子们做的第一次法会。


        朝山期间,上师和弟子们得到了五台山很多出家人的帮助。其中一位在喇荣学习过的出家师,代表所有参加供灯的出家师献给了上师一个右旋的海螺,代替所有众生祈愿上师法轮常转,弘法事业广大圆满。堪布非常欢喜地接受了,并高兴地说:“这是一个非常好的缘起。”


        这确实是一个非常好的缘起。正如释迦牟尼佛当年初转法轮。它预示着达真堪布的弘法事业将遍满整个虚空法界。


       发生在上师身上神奇的事情还有很多。在朝拜五台山佛母洞的时候,随同上师去的一位弟子比较胖,她觉得自己根本无法钻过那窄小的洞口。


       但是上师一再鼓励她不要怕。当她鼓起勇气钻的时候,上师在一旁给她念,加持她,突然间她发现自己的身体一下子缩小了很多很多,一下子就从洞口钻过去了。跟她同地区的一个师兄当时就在旁边,发现她身体缩小到旁边都出现了缝隙。


       只要是近距离地接触过、亲近过达真堪布的人,包括那些已经皈依了其他上师的学佛修行人,无不被达真堪布至诚、平等的慈悲心所感动。


       每当有弟子从远道来依止他,亲近他、求助他,从启程他就开始牵挂、惦念、询问,一直到他们围坐在自己的身边。然后还要过问他们的吃住,好多次还要亲自去住处看看,捏捏被子,问问是否冷。好多弟子都在背地里说,上师就是世界上最最护孩子的妈妈!


       他曾经好多次地说过:我是个出家人,没有家、没有孩子,自己不需要任何供养,大家只要好好学佛修行,用自己修行的成就,用自己的解脱成佛来报答上师三宝,报答父母众生,这才是最好的供养,这才是最大的供养。


       很多人出于恭敬、感恩,对他进行供养,他不得以接受,但是上师珍惜众生的每一分钱,全部花在供奉寺院、供养僧人,为佛像贴金,为众生修福、做功德上。


      清净的慈悲心就会感得很多不可思议的事情发生。慈悲的堪布不止一次地感得了诸佛菩萨的加持。


      二〇〇六年夏,达真堪布带领汉地弟子们去拉萨。他们到拉萨的日子,按藏历来说,正巧是释迦牟尼佛的成道日,而且在这一天,他们去了色拉寺。当时色拉寺的僧人正在做法会,好多僧人同时在念诵《普贤行愿品发愿文》。


      色拉寺的大经堂中间有尊释迦牟尼佛像,上师在顶礼这尊佛像起身的时候,清楚地听到了他们异口同声地念诵:“天龙夜叉鸠槃荼,乃至人与非人等,所有一切众生语,悉以诸音而说法。”四句。(天人、龙王、夜叉、鸠槃荼、人、非人等,我要用他们各自的语言为其宣说佛法,令所有的众生都能学习修行佛法、成就佛果。)这正是堪布众多的愿望之一。这是一个非常非常殊胜的缘起。据色拉寺的僧人们说,这样殊胜的缘分很少见。


       在桑耶秋普——莲华花生大师闭关处以及哲蚌寺等处,上师将弟子们的供养全部用来为佛像帖金,供灯,布施乞丐,供养真正的修行者、大成就者。感于堪布的发心,整个天空、山顶都是彩云,出现了很多不可思议的瑞相。


      堪布在桑耶秋普闭关修法的时候,同样出现了很多瑞相。


      二〇〇五年底,在达真堪布汇编的《净土与大圆满修法仪轨》一书即将付印的时候,一个居士经人介绍找到了他。


       原来他有一个二十三岁的儿子,五年前莫名其妙地得了一场病,病状也特别奇怪,经常神志不清,疯疯傻傻,或是面对墙壁无言而坐,或是趁家人不注意疯跑,寒冬腊月光着膀子,只穿一个裤头。若吃一样东西就要不停地吃,一年夏天吃鸡腿,每天要吃好几只,一连吃了一个月。夫妻俩带孩子跑遍了所有的地方,想遍了所有的方法,花钱无数,然而孩子的病不但没有任何好转,相反却日益恶化。


       五年过去了,为了给孩子治病,夫妻俩含辛茹苦,家徒四壁,丈夫靠卖豆腐赚钱,只想留住孩子的生命,但是这一切的努力已经是徒劳的了。孩子的父亲向堪布述说了这一切,他不知道应该怎么办。


      他走后,堪布一个人默默地坐在那里,眼里含着泪水,难过了很久、很久……于是在《净土与大圆满修法仪轨》一书的前面,达真堪布向所有的诸佛菩萨,善神护法,法界众生郑重地表达了自己心中的愿望:


为了众生能永远地离苦得乐,我愿意把自己的身、口、意全部献给众生!
无论面对何种违缘,利益众生的愿望永不改变!
无论面对何种障碍,救度众生的事业永不放弃!
宁可舍弃生命,决不舍弃一个众生!
愿我的智慧与力量,能够让众生永远地脱离痛苦与烦恼!
愿我的法药,能医治好众生的身心疾病!祈求上师三宝加持于我,相续中不要升起刹那的自私与自利,全心全意为一切众生!大家认真地修持了佛法,并得到了修法的利益,将是我此生最大的幸福与快乐!


       达真堪布就是用这样的悲心与愿力感召着无数众生从黑暗走向光明。


       一位上师的弟子,历尽了生活的艰辛与磨难,这一切几乎让她丧失了活下去的勇气。


       但是依止上师以后,上师每天给大家开示佛法,让她明白了好多道理,明白了一切都是因果,都是因自己的业力所显现,只有改变自己,才能改变命运。


       从此,她精进修行,对上师所教踏实认真地去做,真的把自己从生活、从心灵的苦海中解救出来了。最后凭着她对上师具足的信心,在上师的加持下,经受住了病魔及死亡的考验,仅仅半年的时间就开悟见性了。


       通过自己的经历,她说:“没有上师,我们就连生活当中的喜怒哀乐,悲欢离合都无法面对,无法越过,更不要说解脱成佛了!所以说,是上师给了我一切!”
上师说:上师的出现取决于宿世的因缘与深厚的法缘,虔敬的心就像戒子的环,加持力就是一个钩。如果没有环,是无法钩住任何东西的;同理,没有虔敬心是很难获得加持力的,但一旦获得加持力,佛性便会自然迅速觉醒。

7. Preaching Dharma and benefiting the sentient beings



It took two years for Khenpo Tamgrin to translate the essence of Dzogchen lineage from Tibetan into Chinese, and edited the book” Pure Land and Dzogchen Practice Rituals”, which is definitely the Dharma treasure on the top of the pagoda. Main practice methods in the book are selected from the Tripitaka and Twelve divisions of Exoteric and Tantric Sutras, and these are the most essences which descended from Samantabhadra to the King of Dharma Jigme Phungtsog Rinpoche, passed through eighteen generations by oral lineage and mind-transmission. Every Patriarch master attained enlightenment in the same way, which are the supreme and complete practices methods. Depending on these practice methods, ways of lineage, power of lineage’s blessing, many Tibetan people got benefits, and have been reborn in the pure land and have been salvaged from the sea of suffering. If the Han people could strictly follow the ritual and practice seriously and persistently, they will meet the requirements to be reborn in the Western Pure Land laid down by Buddha: 1. Arousing the Bodhichitta. 2. Accumulating the virtues and merits. 3. Contemplating of Amitabha. 4. Dedicating the merits and virtues to all beings and making vows to be reborn in the Western Pure Land.


If someone owns sharp faculty, tremendous merits, diligent practice; he would eliminate all afflictions and attain the completeness---becoming a Buddha in one lifetime. Though someone only has the poor foundation, small virtues, and does not practice hard, he would be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Bliss approaching his end as well.


Khenpo once said: the King of Dharma bestowed the certificate of Khenpo on me, meant I should salvage the sentient beings in this way, so my responsibility and obligation are giving preaching to beings, which is the most thing I like to do.


Khenpo has been giving preaching of “Pure Land and Dzogchen”. Meanwhile, he has constantly been teaching the destined beings proper ways of practice in daily life, diffusing the perfect Dharma which suit everyone anytime and anywhere. 


Khenpo’s view turned to benefiting the boundless beings with modern technology, the convenient and prompt information technology. Under the guidance of Guru himself, website of  Dzogchen started on May 1st, 2006, an auspicious day which was the day of commemoration---birthday of Bodhisattva Manjuist, and it marked that Dzogchen has been spread to the whole dharmadhatu.  


In order to benefit and save more beings, in the Sina UC chat room on-line, Khenpo Tamgrin has set up the on-line group practice class--- for people to form ties with Dzogchen, to guide and help more people who yearn for relief; Dzogchen Preliminaries courses focus on practicing the Preliminaries systematically. In the class of “A Hundred Day Joint Practice”, Khenpo gave teaching every day, led the disciples to start their practice from the basic four Outer Preliminaries , Five Inner Preliminaries and made people to understand what is the right way to get relief and rebirth in Pure Land, what is authentic Dharma and real practice, and he corrected many people’s deviations.


Due to different understanding of Dharma, many people regarded that practice should be keeping away from crowd and worldly life. It would be correct to do so if situation allowed, but many people of modern society have to make a living, do a job, bring up children and support aged parents, they cannot really leave the crowd, be far away from this mortal life and give up everything to engage in meditative practices. If you do think this is the time for my practice, that is the time for living, working or taking a break, you would separate your practice from life and works, so when will be the time for practice? Many people just misunderstand the meaning of practice, and take for granted that practice means giving up everything, means nothing needed and nothing to care. Therefore, they gave up the families, children and fled to the monasteries, or shut themselves in the family hall for worshipping; they gave up their responsibilities and obligations, they thought this is a practice. As a result, their lives became disasters and their practice was in a mass; they neither lead a good life, nor make any progress in practice. It seems like practicing Dharma, actually they were creating evil karmas; it seems like benefiting beings, actually they were hurting others.


So how to deal with the conflicts between life and practice became a crucial problem which is prevalent among practitioners and need an answer. To apply the Mahayana’s harmony and convenience into the daily life, and integrate life and practice, which means converting our lives into practice, namely converting our practice into lives. You do not have to escape from society, and give up any responsibility, thus our lives will be better and happier, everything will go smoothly and be complete, which is the right way for our modern practitioners to choose.


Guru once said, as a qualified Guru, he will point out your weakness and gave you the right knacks to correct your bad habits.


Guru said, practice is a process to get to know about yourself, amend yourself, conquer yourself, and surpass yourself; Practice is a war to defeat the afflictions and ego; Practice means focusing on yourself with all your strength and declare a war to yourself; Practice is amending yourself, not others, only you amend yourself first, then you can correct others.


In spite of many years of practice, many people still cannot deal with the problems with his so called practice experiences. They were still vexed and feel painful with lots of troubles. Many people have practiced for dozens of years or more than ten years or several years, but their mindsets have not been changed, neither their destinies, they still have a lot of unsolvable problems and confusions and questions without answers. However, after following the Guru, many people solved their problems and suddenly see the light through Guru’s concise teachings which is always in a few words.  


Many disciples shared that they were so self-righteous that though they have practice Dharma for so many years, the progress they made cannot compare with what they got in several months by following the Guru. When talking about these, some people could not help scaring. Due to virtues and merits accumulated in many Lifetimes, they met the Guru and practice the authentic Dharma, which was such a lucky thing that they feel rejoice for themselves.


Many disciples listened to Guru ‘s teachings carefully, reflect themselves, and thought about they have learnt so many years but seldom made any changes. The beginningless karmas, ignorance and habits made us slack and lazy, disappointing the Guru and parental sentient beings, but Guru never despised and gave up us, and he is always guide us, encourage us. If we don’t have Guru, we would suffer from samsara in the future, and would never have the chance to relieve. When we thought about these, many burst into tears.


Before depending on Guru, some people was sick and took lots of medicine otherwise they even could not sit straight up, but after they followed the Guru, their health conditions became better and never took medicine again; some people worried about their children’s study, after they followed the Guru, they did not spur the children as fiercely as before, but children’s scores were improved; some others were very irritable before, after they followed the Guru, they became tender and merciful then brought happiness to family and themselves.


Some people’s work did not go smoothly before, by following the Guru’s teaching for some time, everything went well with their work; Some people has the problems of family discord which made them very afflictive that they cannot break up with each other, nor to be reconciled, and After following the Guru, their attitudes were changed, as well as their families, and so on. Such examples could be found everywhere, many disciples generated unmatched faith to Guru due to their changes in every aspect; many people arouse faith and followed Guru because viewing others’ changes from practicing Buddhism.


They said, Guru’s wisdom opened up their doors of hearts, and Guru’s compassion melted down their bad Karmas. Speaking of Guru’s wisdom and compassion, how can one help feeling grateful and filled with the faith?


What Khenpo Tamgrin has preached and explained are the practical and modern Buddhist Dharma which can provide guidance to modern people on their practice in daily lives and works, and can made people really be benefitted.


These supreme knacks of Dzogchen made countless beings full of joy, stepped out of the confusion and lost and began a journey of practicing the real Dharma.


During the period of the great “A Hundred Day Joint Practice”, Khenpo Tamgrin advised followers in earnest and inculcated them tirelessly that practice should be started from the foundation, following the sequences. With the attitude of honesty, compassion and Bodhichitta, all disciples should cherish the valuable time and human bodies; practice the Mahayana diligently to save the parental sentient beings, until we attained total realization as Buddha!


7. 弘 法 利  生

       历时两年,直至二〇〇五年底,达真堪布将大圆满法传承中精髓与精华的部分内容译成了汉文,汇编了《净土与大圆满修法仪轨》一书,此书堪称宝塔顶尖上的法宝。书中大部分修法,是从三藏十二部显密经典中挑选出来的,是最最精髓与精华的部分,是从普贤王如来开始口传心授,传了十八代,传到晋美彭措法王如意宝这里。历代祖师们都是因此方法而成就的,是最殊胜、最圆满的修持方法。正是靠这种修持方法及传承的方式及传承的加持力,令藏地无数众生得到法益、往生净土、永脱苦海。如果汉地的众生,严格地按照法本内容认真、坚持地去修持,就会在极短的时间内达到佛陀所说的,往生西方极乐世界所必备的四个条件:1、发起菩提心,2、积累福慧资粮,3、观修阿弥陀佛,4、回向发愿往生西方极乐世界。


      如果根基好、福报大、修持精进,今生就能彻底断除烦恼、达到圆满解脱的境界——即身成佛。如果根基差、福报小、修持不太精进,也能临终往生西方极乐世界。


       堪布曾经说:法王赐给了我堪布证书,就是让我用这种方式救度众生。所以我的责任与义务就是给众生讲经说法,这也正是我最喜欢做的。
达真堪布在弘扬“净土与大圆满法”的同时,也在不断地向与他有缘分的众生,利用各种方式宣讲着现代修行人在生活当中,应当采用的修行方式,传播着可以圆融、恒顺任何时代,任何地区,任何众生的佛法。

       由于对佛法的领会不同,很多人认为,修行就是远离人群,远离世间。在有条件的前提下,这样做没有错。但很多人生存在现代社会,他们要生活,要工作,要抚养孩子,要赡养老人。不可能真正地远离人群,远离世间,放下一切去静心而修。如果认为这个是我修行的时间,这个是我生活、工作的时间,这个是我休息的时间,把修行与生活、工作分开,那哪里还有修行的时间?很多人错误地理解了修行的含义,觉得修行就是放弃一切,就应该什么都不要,什么也不管。于是家也不要了,孩子也不管了,跑到寺院里,或者把自己关在佛堂里,放弃了自己该尽的责任与义务,进行着所谓的修行,结果是生活的一塌糊涂,修行的一塌糊涂,即没有活好,也没有修好。这样做表面看似修持佛法,实际上是在用佛法造业;这样做表面看似利益众生,实际上是在用佛法伤害众生。


       怎样处理好生活与修行的矛盾与冲突,是许多人在修行中普遍存在的,亟需解决的问题。将大乘佛法的圆融与方便运用到生活当中,将生活与修行融为一体,将我们的生活变为修行,将我们的修行变为生活,即不用远离世间,也不用放弃责任,这样修持佛法,我们的生活才会日益美满幸福,轻松快乐,我们的一切才会日益顺利如意、吉祥圆满,这才是我们现代修行人应当选择的正确的修行之路。


      上师说过,好上师才能指出你的缺点,好窍诀才能对治你的习气。


      上师说过,修行就是了解自己,修正自己,战胜自己,超越自己的过程;修行就是打败烦恼、打倒我执的一场战争;修行就是将所有的注意力,所有的力量,对准自己,向自己宣战;修行是修正自己,而不是修正他人,只有修正好了自己,才能修正他人。


       好多人修行了好多年,但是当对境现前的时候,自己所谓的修行却派不上任何用场,依然烦恼、依然痛苦、依然困苦重重。好多人修行了几十年,十几年,几年,心态没有改变,生活没有改变,命运没有改变,有好多解决不了的问题,有好多摆脱不了的困惑,有好多找不到的答案。然而跟上师修学,上师三言两语、简单明了的开示,就令很多人豁然开朗,很多问题迎刃而解。


       很多人都说:自以为是地修学十几年、几十年,念这、学那,却不如跟上师修行几个月。很多人一提起这些,都忍不住后怕,同时为自己感到庆幸:生生世世的福报,才有今天的幸运——值遇上师,修持正法!

       很多人在上师讲法的时候,细心聆听,对照自己,想到自己修学多年,却没有任何变化与改变。无始劫以来积累的业障、烦恼与习气,让自己懈怠懒惰,辜负上师,辜负父母众生,而上师却不嫌弃自己,不舍弃自己,始终引导自己,鼓励自己。如果没有上师,未来的生生世世依然要永久轮回,解脱无期。想到这些,很多人都禁不住泪流满面,痛哭失声。


       有的人在没有依止上师之前,身体不好,每天要吃很多药,否则连坐都坐不住,跟随上师修习佛法不久,身体就明显的好了,药也不吃了。有些人原来苦恼孩子学习不好,自从跟上师修行以后,尽管没象以前那么督促孩子学习,孩子的成绩却不知不觉地好了。有些人原来性格特别暴躁,跟随上师修学一段时间以后,性格柔和了,也有慈悲心了,家人也高兴,自己也快乐了。有些人原来工作不顺心,按照上师所教的方法做了一段时间,慢慢地工作也好了。有些人家庭不和,离也离不了,过也过不下去,异常苦恼,跟上师修行以后,自己心态改变了,家人也改变了,家庭又和睦了,等等。这样的事情比比皆是,数不胜数。很多人因为自己各方面的改变,对上师生起了无比的感恩心;很多人因为别人修行有了变化,而对上师、对佛法生起了信心,最后跟随上师修学佛法。


       他们说,是上师的智慧开启了自己的心门,是上师的慈悲融化了自己的业障。提起上师的智慧与慈悲,怎能不让人万分感恩,信心倍增呢?


       所以达真堪布所宣讲的、诠释的,是能够指导现代人生活与工作的,修习起来就能够让人们得到切身利益的,能满足现代修行人需求的实用佛法、现代佛法!
       这些殊胜的大圆满修法窍诀,令无数众生法喜充满,走出了迷茫与困惑,走上了修习佛法的正路。


       在伟大的百日共修期间,达真堪布每日苦口婆心、谆谆教诲,不厌其烦地告诫弟子修行要从基础开始,要有次第,要认真老实,要发慈悲心、菩提心,要珍惜宝贵的光阴与人身,为了救度父母众生而精进修学大乘佛法、直至成佛!
上师说:上师的出现取决于宿世的因缘与深厚的法缘,虔敬的心就像戒子的环,加持力就是一个钩。如果没有环,是无法钩住任何东西的;同理,没有虔敬心是很难获得加持力的,但一旦获得加持力,佛性便会自然迅速觉醒。

8.Buddha shining all

Guru Khenpo Tamgrin Rinpoche's compassion moves all of the destined sentient beings. His wisdom attracts them as well. Impelled by Rinpoche’s compassion and power of vows, people arouse the vow that to save parental sentient beings from the sea of woe forever, and to practice to become a Buddha in this life. 

To relief sentient beings and promote true Dharma, Rinpoche has worked indefatigably day and night, and made painstaking efforts. Because lack of rest and too much speeches, his throat always gets inflammation and has difficulty to speak. Many of his disciples advise him to have more rest, he just smile and doesn't care about the sickness. While in private he said that people take refuge from him because they trust him. It is devotion and they hand on their continuous lives to me, so I have a serious responsibility on my shoulders! I am a monk and what my basic necessities of life are provided by them, so all of my work is for sentient beings, I can't let them down.

Rinpoche's daily life is frugal, he abstain eating any meat and be a vegetarian, advocate freeing captured animals and protect them. Monks, nuns and disciples venerate him. Rinpoche is a real vajra guru.

Guru Khenpo Tamgrin Rinpoche's compassions and vows are shining everywhere; his true mind spreads all over. Countless sentient beings are touched and influenced, then Sangha and disciples have the utmost admiration on Rinpoche and are all in harmony. Inspired by Rinpoche's power of vows, person with certain ability shows up whenever Guru needs during propagating Dharma.

Many of disciples take refuge through on-line ceremony and haven't met Guru face to face, while Guru has never forgotten and ignored them. Guru is familiar with everyone, each time when Guru sat in front of computer listen to and watch them quietly. His sight and expression just look like a mother pay a close attention to her beloved children.

Although many disciples haven't met Guru, while they still feel his absolute sincerity and compassion through his manners via network.

Guru has said that our minds always stay together regardless we are apart from remote places.

We are so lucky to be Guru's disciples. We all treat him as a unique master to rely on in this life. Because he has taught us how to practice, he has also pointed out the way of liberation, he is the benefactor who saving us out from the sea of woes of samsara.

It is beyond any word to thank Guru's great kindness. So the best return and gratitude is the moment when we turn into Buddha.

It is long journey ahead. Guru has most excellent causes and conditions for promoting Dharma, he has a great vows and just starts his career on converting and conveying sentient being to salvation.

We firmly believe that Dzogchen must be spread over space and realms under blessing from Buddhas, Bodhisattva, patriarchs and the Dharma King, as well as Guru's compassions and vows. Immeasurable sentient beings gain benefits and get liberation from the Dzonchen. The Dharma King and Guru’s vows on saving all beings must come true.

8.佛 光 普  照

      上师达真堪布仁波切的慈悲感动着有缘众生,达真堪布仁波切的智慧吸引着有缘众生。他们在上师的悲心与愿力的感召下,纷纷发心、发愿:为了救度父母众生永脱苦海,此生一定要修持成佛!

  为了普度众生,弘扬正法,他日夜操劳,呕心沥血。因为休息少,讲话多,经常嗓子发炎,说话困难。很多来见他的弟子劝他多休息,他总是笑笑,不当回事。然而,在私下里,他却说:“众生相信我,才依止我。依止我,就等于把生生世世交给了我,这不是儿戏,我的肩上有一份责任!我是个出家人,吃众生的、穿众生的,住众生的,我所有的一切都是众生给的,所以我一定要为众生做事,一定要对得起众生,绝不能辜负他们!”

  他的日常生活非常节俭,禁肉吃素,提倡放生护生,深得僧众、弟子的敬仰,是一位真正的金刚上师、一代大德。

  上师达真堪布仁波切的悲心愿力朗照四方,真心无向遍布虚空,感化了无数众生,更令追随他的弟子们敬仰倍至,僧团和合。在上师愿力的感召下,在上师弘法的过程中,上师需要哪种人才,哪种人才就会出现!

  通过网络皈依堪布的好多弟子,虽然他还没有亲自见到,但是上师从来也没有忘记过他们,从来没有忽视过他们!上师对每个人都是那样的熟悉、牵挂,他知道每个人的名字,了解每个人的情况。每当他坐在电脑前,默默地倾听着他们,默默地注视着他们,都会让人异常感动。那种目光,那种表情,那种牵挂,就像一个母亲在关注、牵挂自己心爱的孩子!

  通过网络皈依他的好多弟子虽然还没有亲见他,但是他们在网络上通过上师的言谈举止,字里行间,依然能够感受到上师达真堪布仁波切赤诚、慈悲的心!

上师说:无论远在天涯海角,无论相隔千山万水,我们的心永远在一起!

  我们今生有幸做了他的弟子,我们都将上师——达真堪布仁波切做为此生解脱成就唯一的依怙!因为是上师教会了我们怎样修行,因为是上师给了我们一条正确的解脱之路,因为上师才是解救我们出离轮回苦海的恩人!

  上师的大恩无以言谢,真正的报答,真正的感谢,唯有等到成佛的那一天,唯有等到成佛的那一刻!

  未来的路还很长,上师达真堪布仁波切弘扬佛法的法缘异常殊胜,他的愿力异常广大,他度化众生的事业刚刚开始!

  我们坚信:在诸佛菩萨及所有传承上师的加持下,在晋美彭措法王如意宝的加持下,在上师达真堪布仁波切无上的慈悲心与愿力的感召下,大圆满法一定能够传遍虚空法界,一定会有无数众生得到法益,在今生解脱成佛,晋美彭措法王如意宝与上师达真堪布仁波切利益众生、救度众生的愿望一定能够实现!

9.The Guru of Preliminaries practice



With perfect wisdom alike Buddha, Guru perceives the weakness of current practitioner, who blindly follow an incorrect trend. “If you don’t follow lineage and the sequences, you can’t make any achievements. If you lack perseverance and blow hot and cold, you will waste your time and waste the human body.” Guru said. After the first “A Hundred Day Joint Practice” in October 2006 to January 2007, Guru set up the on-line Preliminaries class, each term begins in every spring for the practice.(One-year Preliminaries class is mainly about listening and meditation; Three-year preliminaries class emphasizes on true practice.)


Although the conditions and causes are not mature and sufficient, Guru did everything possible to illustrate Preliminaries in details for us. He emphasizes and repeated the key points over and over again. After the first teaching of the Dzogchen (The Great Perfection) via internet in 2006,Guru spent one and a half months to give teaching of Preliminaries of Dzogchen again in 2008. Khenpo spend 9 days in teaching “The Path to Liberation “at “The Ten Thousand Lamps Dharma Assembly” in 2009. Guru held the second “ One Hundred-day Joint Practice” in new Practice Center in June 2011 and illustrate Preliminaries of Dzogchen as well as three specially Preliminaries deeply and systematically. After that, every year in the spring and the summer, the “One Hundred-day Joint Practice” would be held for practicing the preliminaries of Dzogchen in Dzogchen Practice Center of Namtsok Serder Monastery---the great Bodhimanda combined with the Exoteric and Tantric practice.


Although some peoples disagree with the Preliminaries Practice while some peoples despise them, Guru remains unmoved. Khenpo claim, Preliminaries course is foundation of practice. Mastering Preliminaries is benefit but no harm to our meditation, work and daily life. In order to express determination of teaching preparation course, Khenpo called himself “Guru of Preliminaries practice”. Through a lot of dedication and efforts by Guru, many peoples have systematically practiced Preliminaries and have made great changes in aspects of mentality, physiology, characters, attitude and destiny.


9.加 行 上 师


  上师用他佛陀般圆满的智慧,洞察了现代修行人的修行弊端,那就是盲从跟风,盲修瞎练。上师说,不按传承,不按次第,永远不可能成就;东跑西颠,东学西学,只能浪费光阴,荒废人身。自2006年10月至2007年1月的第一届百日共修结束后,上师在新浪UC房间创建了加行班,每年春天加行班都要开学,实修加行(后系统地分为一年加行,以闻思为主;三年加行,以实修为主)。


  虽然条件不是很成熟,因缘不是很具足,但是上师依然想尽一切办法,利用一切机缘,给大家详尽地讲解加行,对加行的学修,反复强调,重点重复。继06年第一次通过网络方式传讲大圆满法法加行之后,08年,上师用一个半月的时间为大家再次讲解了大圆满法加行;在09年的万盏法会上,上师利用九天的时间,为大家讲解了《开显解脱道》。时隔五年后,在2011年的6月,在新落成的实修中心,举办了第二届百日共修,再次系统而深入地宣讲了大圆满法加行及三特加行。之后,在新建成的显密双修大道场——朗措玛寺实修中心,每年春夏之际都会举办百日共修,主要共修大圆满法加行。


  尽管很多人不赞成学加行,很多人对学加行不以为然,上师依然不为所动。上师认为,加行是修行的基础,非常重要,若是学好了加行,对大家的修行、生活、工作,只有益处,没有害处。为了表达自己传讲加行的决心,上师称自己为“加行上师”。经过上师的苦心付出,很多人经过系统地学修加行,身心、性情、心态、命运都已得到了巨大的改变。

10.Everyone to be reborn in the Pure Land



The Dharmas promoted by Guru are “Dzogchen and the Pure Land”. The Dharma of the Pure Land is the solution of helping people to face death and to be reborn in the Pure Land. Dzogchen (The Great Perfection) is the way of becoming Buddha in this life. These two solutions are extremely suitable for the beings in this Dharma ending age, also are especially excellent solution of liberation. “For being reborn in the pure land, everyone has the solution through learning and practicing, but only I know a method without the need of learning and practicing.” Padmasambhava said. The solution of liberation without learning and practicing is Phowa.


The purpose of studying Buddhism is going to Western Pure Land and relieving from the suffering in the six realms forever. However, if you expect to go to Pure Land, to be reciting Buddha’s name is not enough and other conditions are required. Everything is impermanent, especially in the dharma-ending age. , many occasions can cause death. We don’t know when to die, where to die and how to die, all of them are uncertain. Guru requested us to learn “Dharma of the Pure land” first in order to get the guarantee of Rebirth in the pure land, then learn the Dzogchen(the Great Perfection) in order to become Buddha in this life.


In order to let disciples follow the lineage and sequences and possess the four requirements to be reborn in the pure land, Guru has set up an on-line class, which majors in the Dharma of Pure land, ensures everyone can go to the Pure Land after this life. Guru demanded that everyone to be reborn in the Pure Land. Preparedness averts peril.


Since “the class of the Pure land” has been set up, many practitioners, especially some elderly ones have studied on-line and made individual achievement.


10. 人  人  往  生



   上师所弘扬的是“净土与大圆满法”。净土法是临终往生的方法,大圆满法是即身成佛的方法。这两个法都极其相应末法时期众生,都是极其殊胜的解脱方法。莲师说,经过学修能往生的方法谁都有,不经过学修能往生的方法,只有我有。莲师所说的“不经过学修就能往生的方法”,指的是破瓦法。


  学修佛法的目的,是为了往生西方极乐世界,永远地脱离六道之苦,但并不是只念佛就能往生,它是有条件的。一切都是无常的,特别是在末法时期,死缘众多,何时死,在何地死,以何种方式死,都是不定的。上师要求大家先修成往生法,有往生的保证了,再学修大圆满法,让自己即身成佛。


  为了大家能够按照传承,按照次第,具足往生的四个条件,上师在互联网新浪UC创建了净土班,专门学修净土法,保证大家能够临终往生。上师提出的要求是:人人往生,有备无患。


  净土班开办几年来,很多人,特别是年龄大的同修,都在此学修过,都取得了不共的成就。
